A GROUP of Guides vowed to make their leaders' wedding day extra special by forming a guard of honour outside the registry office.

Ten members of 1st Leigh Guides stood holding brightly decorated tent poles topped with the unit's neckerchief as Kevin and Wendy Adams left Malvern Registry Office.

Mrs Adams, nee Cane, has been the senior leader of the unit for about eight years and took over the Guides from her mum Valda last year.

Her husband is the unit helper.

The couple, from Malvern, were married on Saturday, August 16 and enjoyed a reception at Leigh and Bransford Memorial Hall where the Guides waited on friends and family.

Mrs Adams' mum Valda said she thought her 31-year-old daughter had an inkling the younger Guides were planning something but had no idea the older girls were also involved.

Mrs Cane, who stepped down as Guide leader last year, said "It was such a lovely day and it meant a lot to my daughter see the six senior section members and four Guides outside the registry office.

"One had even come from Canada to attend the wedding."

The couple have been together four around five years and Mr Adams proposed after they had climbed Ben Nevis two years ago.

Richard Stockdale was best man while maid of honour was Rupy Dhami with bridesmaids Amelia Adams and Holly Cane.

Mrs Adams' nephew Ben Cane was pageboy.

Mr and Mrs Adams are currently honeymooning in America.
