MORE than 100 lots are set to go under the hammer when a fundraising auction takes place in aid of the Evesham Abbey Bell Tower Appeal.

The event, which it is hoped will bring a big boost to the Journal-backed campaign, is taking place at The Ivy, in North Littleton, at 7pm on Saturday (August 30).

Sue Ablett, chairman of the appeal committee, said: “We now have more than 100 lots and there are some absolutely fantastic things available to bid for.

"For lovers of the Bell Tower, we have lots of items – a pottery teapot, a whole range of pictures , an embroidery of the tower and abbey grounds, a jigsaw of the inside of the Ringing Chamber, a cross stich set, and a large matchstick model."

Other lots on offer include the chance to have a personal peal of bells, a limo ride and a seven-day break in a luxury cottage in Wales.

Dr Ablett added: "We really hope this will be a great fundraiser for the appeal, taking us ever nearer that £500,000 target, but it should also be a great night.

"We are very grateful to Martin and Stuart Homer of Littleton Auctions for their help with the event.”

All lots will be available for viewing from 4pm on Saturday at The Ivy. There will be morris dancing from 5pm until 6pm, with live music by Ghia afterwards.
