WORCESTER City manager Carl Heeley says he is encouraged by the level of support shown to his team so far this season.

Gates of 565 and 625 turned out respectively for the Vanarama Conference North home matches against Stalybridge Celtic and Tamworth at Aggborough.

While there were higher attendances last term, Heeley feels the fans are backing the team and is hoping they do so again when early league leaders North Ferriby United visit tomorrow (3pm).

“It’s really encouraging and it’s appreciated that the fans come out,” he said. “I would like to think we are trying to play the game the right way and we are an entertaining side and good to watch.

“It’s great to see the fans and it’s up to us to keep them entertained so they keep coming back.”

City are still looking for their first win of the campaign following four draws and one defeat from their opening five fixtures.

North Ferriby, who beat Worcester twice last season — 1-0 at Aggborough and 2-1 alongside the Humber Estuary — have won four of their first five matches.

The goals in their 2-2 home draw against Gloucester City earlier this month are the only ones they have conceded so far this term.

“Tomorrow is another tough game and North Ferriby are the early leaders which doesn’t surprise me,” Heeley said.

“They are one of the top sides in the league. I still think it’s a game we can win. We just need to keep doing what we are doing.”
