POLICE officers will be taking part in specialist awareness training to boost their understanding of the Polish culture.

Throughout September police officers from West Mercia across north and south Worcestershire will be looking at all areas of the Polish culture to engage and develop a more coherent relationship and presences within the community.

The aim is to provide and deliver a more improved service which is more accessible for members of the Polish community.

Superintendent Mark Travis said: "Worcester city and the whole of north and south Worcestershire is a thriving multi-cultural community, it is really important that we understand the customs and cultures of the people we serve. We work with advisory groups to ensure we understand and address the needs of local communities we serve.

"This training will ensure our officers gain a deeper understanding and insight of our Polish community and therefore, will help to improve the service we deliver."
