BEAUTY spots have new benches so visitors can savour Worcestershire at its best.

The Countryside Centre in Worcester, Waseley Hills Country Park, Jubilee Bridge Picnic Place in Cropthorne, Fish Hill Picnic Place in Broadway and Ankerdine Common Picnic Place in Knightwick also have new benches. Three picnic tables have also been provided across these sites too.

The benches have been sponsored by Worcestershire County Council's county waste management contractor, Severn Waste Services, who have provided funds for the 12 benches, totalling £5,000.

Cllr Lucy Hodgson, cabinet member for localism and communities said: "We are thrilled to be working once again with Severn Waste to offer local residents across the county these beautiful real-wood benches and picnic tables. Worcestershire really does hold some beauty spots and these benches are a great way for ramblers and families alike to stop and take in the sights of the county. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Severn Waste and we look forward to working with them in the near future with such great projects."

The benches have been made locally and have been embossed with the Severn Waste Environmental Fund logo on them.

Ian Barber, marketing director at Severn Waste said: "As part of the Severn Waste Environmental Fund, managed by the charity Welcome to Our Future we are really pleased to be able to offer these benches to the residents of Worcestershire. The fund enables us to provide or maintain public amenities and parks and these benches are a great example of how this is working really well. We will continue to invest in the local community and make Worcestershire a great place to live for future generations to come."
