HUNDREDS of pounds was raised for the Pershore Talking Newspaper during a street collection in the town.
The charity have thanked everyone that donated to the cause on Saturday, September 6, on behalf of their blind and partially sighted listeners after raising £334.02.
The talking newspaper provides recordings of articles from local newspapers to help those who have difficulty reading and it has recently added articles to each recording from popular magazines such as Readers Digest and the Peoples Friend.
It relies solely on the efforts of its volunteers and on donations and is currently facing a major expense in replacing the boom box players it provides listeners free of charge. The money raised by the street collection will help to fund this.
Anyone interested in making a donation, receiving the talking newspaper, or volunteering can contact Chris Smith on 01386 556167.
