AN Evesham mushroom business will be expanding its business after plans to increase the factory on Vale Park were approved.

Councillors at Wychavon District Council welcomed the growth of Walsh Mushrooms, in Crab Apple Way, which will see a new store, packing and distribution warehouse built.

It will be operated 24 hours a day all year round on the specialist industrial and business site in Evesham.

Speaking in support of the plans Alan Walsh said: "Walsh Mushrooms is a family business. We were the first business to move onto this designated land. We have expanded the business since then. We have had probably four years of fairly rapid growth.

"We have out grown our current facilities and that's why we are looking for additional space. It's essential it's adjacent to the current site."

Councillor Jo Sandalls said she was pleased to support the application.

"I welcome this application," she said. "I really think this will boost the economy of Evesham and I welcome the jobs it will bring."
