AN UPGRADED Post Office is to open in Evesham later this month.

The newly modernised main Evesham branch in the town's High Street will launch for the first time on Monday, September 29, at 1pm.

Customers will be able to be served from six counters, including four new style open-plan positions and two secure fortress positions.

There will also be a wide ranged of services available including international parcels, Special Delivery, Local Collect and home shopping returns.

And people using UK banks will be able to use their post office for baking cash deposits and withdrawals and bill payments.

The Post Office service will be available from 8.30am to 5.30pm Monday to Thursday and 9am to 5.30pm on Friday and Saturday.

The current Post Office will close today (Thursday 18 September) at 5.30pm for the refurbishment to take place. During this time services can be accessed from any local Post Office including those on Cheltenham Road and in Pershore.

Mark Jacobs, area manager, said: “We know how important Post Office services are to residents in Evesham and we are confident that this vibrant modern Post Office at the heart of the community will be popular.

“The modernisation is part of a major Government investment programme that is enabling us to continue investing in the Post Office network and to map out a bold growth strategy through to the end of the decade.”

The move is part of major modernisation programme across the Post Office network designed to make it easier for customers to do business, through longer opening hours and modern open plan environments.
