STRIKER Daniel Nti believes it is only a matter of time before Worcester City find their scoring touch.

The Blue and Whites are one of just five teams yet to reach double figures for goals this season in Vanarama Conference North.

They have also failed to hit the target in their first five away games and visit a table-topping Fylde side tomorrow (3pm) who are protecting an unbeaten home record.

City’s wastefulness in front of goal has courted criticism from manager Carl Heeley but Nti, the club’s leading marksman with three goals, reckons that will change.

He said: “We just need that cutting edge in front of goal. I’m sure it will come with time and it needs to be better but I’m sure the boys will sharpen up and we’ll get a few goals now.

“We have had good performances, we’ve done well against league leaders but I think we can go up a gear and hopefully we will do that in the next few matches.

“It’s another tough trip but I’m sure we’ll take everything in our stride. We’ll train tonight, see where we are and hopefully put in a good result against Fylde.”

It will be the fifth time in 11 matches that City have faced a side at the top of the pile having previously taken on Guiseley, Barrow, North Ferriby United and Chorley, beating the last two.

Newly-promoted Fylde, managed by former Tranmere long-throw specialist Dave Challinor, are also the division’s top scorers and have won their last five matches on the spin.

Tuesday’s 2-0 defeat at Stockport was only City’s second loss in seven matches and Nti is confident they can bounce back.

The striker added: “It was quite a frustrating loss but I think we’ll get up and go again, the team played well but it was two mistakes that cost us.

“I think we played well for the rest of the match and we looked solid but we just need to keep converting our chances.”

Assistant manager Matt Gardiner added: “We go there with no fear, we will play our game and try to impose ourselves on them as much as we can.

“We have had some tough away games but the pleasing thing is that we are competing.

“You can see where we are stronger from last year but from all our possession we are not finishing off the moves or putting the final touches to the moves we are creating.”

Worcester will give a fitness to Mike Symons after the striker missed the Stockport match with a back spasm.

He was replaced by Nick Wright at Edgeley Park and the former Kidderminster Harriers forward will be primed to step in again.

The Kellamergh Park match is also captain Ellis Deeney’s last before his three-game suspension starts.
