A FILM capturing the testimonies of 11 heroic veterans who fought in World War Two from Worcestershire has been shortlisted for a TV award.

Worcestershire County Council, who are behind the film 'We Did Our Bit', has celebrated becoming a finalist in the prestigious Royal Television Society Midlands Centre Awards 2014.

The film is one of ten finalists in the running for the Best Promotional Programme Award and will find out whether it is a winner at an awards ceremony at the National Motorcycle Museum on Thursday, October 30.

The award recognises production excellence and creativity in programmes intended either for general or specialised audiences made either for corporate purposes or retail/mail order sale.

The short film was made in partnership with ex-BBC film maker Mike Jackson from Splash TV and was funded through an Armed Forces Community Covenant grant of £9,500.

Councillor Lucy Hodgson, cabinet member for localism and communities, said: "We are delighted the film has been shortlisted for a regional Royal Television Society Award.

"The aim of the film was to raise awareness in Worcestershire of the elderly ex-Armed Forces personal in our midst and recognise their contributions during that time.

"We hope that through this film we will have helped to provide a lasting reminder to everyone what sacrifices, bravery and courage our local ex-servicemen displayed during that time."
