A NURSE was shot at with what is believed to have been a pellet gun while she sat in her car.

The female nurse was outside Warndon Clinic on Cranham Drive at around 7pm on Sunday evening and was about to leave to visit a patient when her rear windscreen was shattered after it was hit by what police believe was a pellet from an air gun.

The nurse is not believed to have received any injuries as a result of the incident.

Officer Wayne Hurley, with West Mercia Police, said: "An unknown person fired an air weapon from the direction of the alleyway to the rear of Warndon clinic toward the parked car, the pellet hitting the rear windscreen causing it to shatter.

"The alleyway itself is a general thoroughfare for individuals to visit Warndon retail area from the north part of Warndon but it is well sheltered. At this stage no offender has been identified.

"Warndon safer neighbourhood team regularly patrol this area. We have been and will continue to visit the clinic to ensure that the staff there feel safe."

A spokesman for Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust said: “We are aware of an incident in the car park outside the Warndon Clinic on Sunday evening when the rear window of a nurse's car was smashed while they were about to leave to visit a patient.

"The police were informed and colleagues and the on-call manager supported the member of staff at the time. The rest of the team were offered a temporary alternative base that evening but were happy to remain.

"All of our staff have a right to feel safe while at work and we have clear policies and guidance to protect them from any violence, abuse or harassment.”

This incident follows an attempted burglary of the clinic in June this year where a window was smashed.
