TOWN councillor Martin Lawrence is holding a second public meeting for residents concerned about the proposals to build hundreds of new homes on the QinetiQ site.

The meeting, on Monday, October 6, follows the success of his earlier meeting at the start of the month, which was attended by about 60 concerned residents.

Cllr Lawrence said the meeting will be an opportunity for residents to discuss the decision due to be made next Tuesday on the new South Worcestershire Development Plan.

The latest version of the plan includes an increase in the number of houses planned for the site from 250 to 300.

He said: "There is a public consultation on the plan due to start on the same day as my meeting, but it's only for six weeks which isn't very long considering how much there is to discuss.

"I think a lot of people in Malvern just don't realise what an impact all the proposed extra housing will have. I dread to think what Malvern will be like in the future with all the extra traffic."

The meeting will be at the Octagon Centre, Brook Farm Drive, at 7pm. It will be preceded by a defibrillator demonstration, as Cllr Lawrence is keen to spread the word about lifesaving skills.
