WORCESTER City are counting the cost of their FA Cup victory with Tristan Dunkley and Wayne Thomas facing a spell on the sidelines.

The Blue and Whites despatched Rugby Town 3-1 in Saturday’s FA Cup second qualifying round at Aggborough to bank £4,500.

But they were forced to finish the tie with 10 men when Dunkley, one of three substitutes already on the pitch, suffered a suspected dislocated shoulder and was taken to hospital.

Thomas also hobbled out of the action 13 minutes before half-time after landing awkwardly on his back and was replaced by goalscorer Jacob Rowe.

Neither are expected to be involved in tomorrow night’s home Vanarama Conference North match against Boston United (7.45pm) and could be out for longer.

Manager Carl Heeley said: “It looks like Tristan’s dislocated his shoulder and, with Thommo falling awkwardly and getting a back spasm, they’re the two negatives from the match. You don’t want to lose players to injury but hopefully they’ll quickly recover and be back available to us.”

But City striker Michael Taylor has rejoined the club and appeared for the last 20 minutes against Rugby.

Taylor left City at the end of the 2012-13 campaign following two season to link up with Solihull Moors but has made the move back after Worcester made an approach to their league rivals.

His pace and determination made him an instant hit with Worcester fans and he received a vocal reception as he warmed up on the touchline at Aggborough at the weekend.

“Michael jumped at the chance to come back and he’s one of those lads who gives people a lift,” Heeley added.

“He works hard and has got pace.

“He’s raw and unpredictable but, against tired legs with him and Tristan Dunkley, they’re two potent threats.

“It’s great to have Michael back.”
