SCOUTS in Salford Priors will be able to enjoy some good food and a hot drink when they next head out camping thanks to a generous donation from a local supermarket.

The money, £345.59, was donated by Warner's Budgens, in Bidford, and will be used by Salford Priors Scouts to buy a new water heater and a gas powered fridge, ready for the groups’ next camping trip.

One of the leaders at Salford Priors Scout group, Jane Lawton, was pleased to accept the cheque along with some of the scouts.

She said: "We are really grateful to Warner’s Budgens and their customers for their support, which has allowed us to update some crucial equipment.

"The experiences that the children receive through Scouting are invaluable, and donations such as this help us provide more exciting adventures."

The money was raised by customers at the Bidford store through the Community Savings Scheme where by for every £10 a customer spends in the store, they receive a Community Savings token which is then converted to cash to support local projects.

Guy Warner, the owner of Warner’s Budgens, who presented the cheque to the Salford Priors Scouts, said: "I am a big fan of the Scouts as they offer great opportunities for children in our area. I am pleased that the Scouts continue to have such a big appeal, especially when faced with the challenge presented by television and computer screens."
