A RADIO DJ who kick-started his career in Worcester has been arrested and bailed over alleged sex offences against two women.

DJ Neil Fox, 53, was taken on by Wyvern FM in 1984 after a competition in the Worcester Evening News.

The Magic FM presenter, also known as Doctor Fox, was arrested and bailed yesterday (September 30).

Scotland Yard did not name the broadcaster, but said: "Officers from Westminster this morning, Tuesday September 30, arrested a 53-year-old man following four allegations of sexual assault against two women.

"Three of the allegations are historic, one from earlier this year.

"The man was arrested at a business address in W1 and taken to a central London police station.

"Officers subsequently searched addresses in SW6 and the Littlehampton area of West Sussex.

"The man has now been bailed to return on a date in early December pending further inquiries."

Fox lived in Britannia Square, Worcester in the mid-1980s when he was working for Wyvern.

The station gave him a job after a competition run by this newspaper.

A spokesman for Bauer Media said: "Bauer Media can confirm that Neil Fox, presenter of the Magic Radio breakfast show, was today arrested by Westminster Police.

" He is currently being questioned about various allegations.

"In the circumstances Neil will be off air from tomorrow to enable him to devote his full attention to dealing with these matters.

"All other aspects of his contract will remain unchanged while matters are resolved.

"We can make no further comment at this stage."

His arrest is not part of high profile sex crime investigation Operation Yewtree.
