A NEW range of activities for people is being launched in Malvern next week.

The initiative, named Pathway, is being brought to town by the local branch of charity Mencap

Pathway is a day activity service for people with learning and physical disabilities, providing meaningful leisure and learning opportunities for adults.

These range from cooking to keep fit, karaoke to drama, and gardening to reviewing the local news.

The initiative is the result of Malvern Mencap teaming up with Heart of England Mencap, which already runs Pathway groups in Warwickshire.

Pathway will launch at the 2nd Malvern Scout HQ in Spring Lane on Tuesday, October 28, with free sessions on offer every Tuesday until December 2. They run from 9.30am to 3.30pm with customers asked to bring a packed lunch.

Chief executive Helena Wallis said: "These free sessions are to show those with learning and physical disabilities in the town that they do have options.

“Pathway is about focusing on abilities and not disabilities. We want to promote health and wellbeing and increase or maintain independence, building confidence and building friendships, and having a lot of fun along the way.”

Sessions must be booked in advance by contacting 01789 298709 or heartofenglandmencap.org.uk.
