MALVERN Cinema is set for a £50,000 refurbishment in the coming weeks as the 91-year-old venue sees the replacement of its 380 seats.
The cost of the new seating has been raised entirely from private individual donations to the Malvern Theatres Tomorrow Campaign, which was launched in March 2014.
The new seating will offer a choice of contemporary cinema seats to film-goers - premium seats, standard seats and double seats.
Nic Lloyd, Malvern Theatres chief executive, said: "I’m delighted by the response to the campaign to replace our cinema seating and I’m enormously grateful to everyone who has donated money.
"The size, scale, age and layout of Malvern Cinema have always combined to offer a unique experience and I’m very happy we shall now be able to match these with the levels of comfort that audiences expect when they go to see a film."
Installing the new seats will take a week from Wednesday, November 5.
A showing of Elaine Constantine’s Northern Soul will be the first screening in the refurbished venue on Thursday, November 13 which will be followed a day later by the formal opening of the venue.
Susanne Bier’s Serena, starring Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper, runs for a week from Friday, November 14.
