TRAFFIC gridlock has hit Worcester this morning - with drivers stuck in jams of around an hour due to a council survey.

Serious delays have hit the A4440 Southern Link Road, with tailbacks reported around Broomhall Way, Crookbarrow Way, Hams Way and Temeside Way.

Irate drivers say the tailbacks from Lower Wick are spiralling past Powick island, wth people trying to reach the city from Malvern particularly affected.

Worcestershire County Council is doing a traffic survey, asking drivers to pull over with police support from 7am to 7pm.

Last week it warned drivers delays were possible due to the survey, which is taking place on "key routes" across the city.

The county council has declined to reveal to us where the census points will be during this evening's rush hour.

More on this story will follow throughout the day. Were you stuck in the traffic? Call 01905 742248 or email te@worcesternews.co.uk.
