CARL Heeley says there is no reason why Worcester City can’t set their sights on reaching the Vanarama Conference North play-offs.

Saturday’s 2-1 victory over Leamington took the Aggborough outfit’s tally to 11 points from their last five league games.

They are now 11th in the table, five points adrift of the top five but with games in hand on most of the teams above them because of their FA Cup run.

The City manager said: “Prior to the Coventry game we were on a good run and we’d got some momentum. Last week was a continuation of that.

“When you’ve gone 10 games unbeaten, you have a chance. We’re in contention, there’s a long way to go but we’re in a far better position than we were last season and the aim is to finish as high up the league as we can. If that’s the top five, then brilliant.”

A crowd of 859 watched the weekend triumph and Heeley believes continued high levels of support will see him given the financial backing to push City up the table.

He said: “If we get more people coming every week, we’ll get more money and I know what our board of directors’ ambitions and aspirations are and they’ll allow us to spend that on the playing side.

“That gives me every chance to go and strengthen the squad and keep the run going.”

Heeley added: “It was a real commendable effort by our supporters again but we want to try to attract that week in, week out and more if we can.

“Winning games and playing the way we like to, hopefully that will encourage people to come along.

“We’ve got to remember that we’re not at home and all those people have travelled from Worcester. I’m sure that the board are delighted with the crowd.”
