TRIBUTES have been paid to a councillor in Wychavon who has suddenly died.

Councillor Reg Jakeman, who represented Badsey and Aldington for the district council, died on Saturday at the age of 76.

The Conservative, who is survived by his wife Lynne, had held the seat since 2007.

During his time in the council chamber he was known to be a staunch advocate for helping the homeless.

During his time he was chairman of the audit committee and sat on the planning committee.

Councillor Paul Middlebrough, the leader, said: "Our deepest sympathies go out to Reg’s family, particularly his wife Lynne.

"Reg was a real community man and had a particular desire to help and support the homeless.
