REAMS of cyclists took to the roads of Worcestershire for this year's Bredon Hill Bikeaway raising hundreds of pounds for St John Ambulance.

Nearly 100 cyclists got in the saddle for the fundraiser organised by the Pershore Division of St John Ambulance and supported by Wychavon District Council and Pershore College.

Cyclists of all ages and capabilities completed almost 4,000 miles around some of the most outstanding autumnal thoroughfares the area has to offer and made about £1,000 for the good cause.

Tony Haines, unit manager of the Pershore division of the St John Ambulance, started the race.

He said: "Once again we are delighted with the support we have received from so many people, who have raised much needed funds for our voluntary organisation.

"It is wonderful to see so many dear friends coming back year after year from all over the country, with some travelling from as far away as Hampshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and all over the West Midlands.

"Thankfully the weather was kind to us this year and the autumnal colours were outstanding, in fact it was a delightful day for a bike ride.

"Our grateful thanks to everyone who took part and also to Wychavon District Council and Pershore College for their continuing and exceptional backing."
