FA Cup hero Daniel Nti could miss Worcester City’s latest bid for silverware success against Halifax at Aggborough tomorrow (3pm).

The striker, scorer of the equaliser in Sunday’s 1-1 second round draw at Scunthorpe United, is struggling with a virus and is not certain to feature in the Trophy first round proper clash.

Nti, who is City’s joint nine-goal leading marksman alongside Sean Geddes, has missed just one match this season — the 3-0 victory at Hyde earlier this month.

Nick Wright, Tristan Dunkley and Michael Taylor all started that match, with the latter two scoring, and would be vying to replace Nti.

Centre-half Wayne Thomas is also a doubt for tomorrow’s match after picking up an ankle injury against Scunthorpe.

Manager Carl Heeley will be hoping the pair will have recovered in time to face the Conference outfit as City aim to extend their 14-game unbeaten run.

Worcester are also protecting a record at Aggborough which has seen them taste defeat just once in 2014.

Heeley said: “If we could make it 17 or 18 games unbeaten I would be absolutely delighted but every one we get gives us momentum and belief. The players are doing incredibly well at the moment.

“Halifax know they are going to be in for a tough game, that’s for sure, but we are doing well, especially at home. We have got a good record that we want to try to keep going.”

Worcester booked their place against Halifax with last month’s impressive 3-0 victory over Conference North leaders Barrow.

Geddes scored twice on that occasion, including a ‘rabona’ that went viral across the globe on social media.

Halifax sit ninth in the Conference and are looking to bounce back from a 2-1 defeat at Torquay United.

Neil Aspin’s side have also not won on their travels since a 2-0 victory at Alfreton back on September 30.

Heeley says the visitors are in for a battle and insists his team will not let Wednesday’s FA Cup replay against Scunthorpe distract them.

“We’re respectful of everybody we play against and it will be another cracking atmosphere against Halifax,” the Worcester boss said.

City have been boosted by the extension of forward Jordan Murphy’s loan from Walsall for a third month.

Tomorrow’s encounter will be the first meeting between the sides since City lost 5-0 at The Shay in March 2013.
