TWO brothers involved in a string of anti-social behaviour incidents and racially-aggravated public order offences have been sentenced.

Paul Wood, 14, and Thomas Wood, 12, both of Stallard Road, Worcester, were issued two-year Criminal Anti-Social Behaviour Orders (CRASBOs) at Worcester Magistrates Court on Wednesday, January 14.

The pair’s actions over the past three years “impacted significantly” on their community, according to police.

PC Paul Slaymaker, of Arboretum and Claines safer neighbourhood team, said: "These CRASBOs indicate West Mercia Police’s priority of protecting people from harm and bringing those who cause distress in local communities to justice, regardless of their age.

“The order means that for the next two years they have to comply with a number of conditions aimed at tackling the issues they have caused.

“If they are found breaching any of the conditions of the order they commit a criminal offence which, if successfully convicted, could result in a prison sentence of up to five years.”

Under the terms of the CRASBOs the brothers are banned from spitting in public, making rude hand gestures, kicking footballs at cars, playing ‘chicken’ in any street, deliberately placing items in roads in the way of traffic, contacting certain individuals or run over other residents’ gardens or property.

Monarch Drive and Martley Road shops are off limits for the brothers and they must not play ball games in Stallard Road and Fern Road.

They are also banned from being verbally abusive, shouting or swearing in a public place in manner that is likely to cause alarm, harassment or distress.

The order will end on Friday, January 13, 2017.

Superintendent Kevin Purcell, policing commander for South Worcestershire, said: "When releasing photographs of young people I am always mindful of the impact this can have on them.

“There has been the need to balance the volume and scope of their anti-social behaviour with their needs and the need to notify the community of these orders so we can properly enforce them.”

Anyone who witnesses the brothers breach their CRASBOs can contact West Mercia Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.

Communities are also encouraged to report any anti-social behaviour in their area by calling 101.
