BEING near to work and a country pub are among the most important things home owners in Pershore look for when looking for a new place to live, according to research by a house builder.

Research gathered by Bloor Homes Western showed home owners in Pershore had very specific requirements, including a maximum commute to work of 30 minutes, country pub nearby and a house situated in a cul-de-sac.

When asked about the house itself, a lack of driveway was a deal breaker for most people, while respondents were split on the ideal size of garden with 54 percent believing big is beautiful and 46 percent preferring something small and perfectly formed.

Mark Powell, sales director for Bloor Homes Western, said: "These findings show that Pershore really is a town of property lovers and that homeowners enjoy thinking about the attributes that come together to create the perfect place to live.

"Location is the one thing that cannot be changed, which is why we aspire to build communities in the most idyllic of settings, such as Abbey Springs."

Across the UK the most important characteristics for places to live were finding a small and friendly community that is safe and secure.
