A WOMAN who died following a crash on the M5 last week has been named as 90-year-old Betty Campbell.

The Bromsgrove residents died on Friday, February 20, three days after the accident which happened on Tuesday, February 17.

Maurice Tropman, who was 83, also died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash that occurred at around 4.50pm on the northbound carriageway of the M5 between junction six and junction five, when a West Midlands Ambulance Patient Transport Service (PTS) minibus was in collision with two cars.

Emergency services were called to the scene, and Mr Tropman who was from Charford in Bromsgrove, and Ms Campbell, of Willow Court, Willow Road, Bromsgrove, were both taken to Worcester Royal Hospital in a critical condition.

The two were both travelling in the PTS minibus, which is believed to have been heading toward Bromsgrove, but they were not related to one another.

Five other people involved in the collision were also taken to hospital, including the driver of the ambulance who was suffering from neck injuries.

He has since been discharged and will be spoken to by police as part of the investigation into the collision.

The investigation is being led by the Central Motorway Police Group.
