Appeal made to former workers

THE widow of an ex-Evesham carpenter who died after being exposed to asbestos is looking for help in her legal battle for compensation.

Elizabeth Major is appealing for former colleagues of her late husband Peter to come forward and help her bid.

Mr Major died from mesothelioma, a asbestos-related cancer, aged 70 in 2004. He is thought to have been exposed to asbestos whilst working as a carpenter for Epsley and Co Ltd in Evesham from 1959 to 1967.

His widow says during his time with the company, his duties required him to cut and drill asbestos boards but he was never provided with any respiratory equipment by his employers to protect him.

She said: "My husband was diagnosed with mesothelioma in 2003 and died the following year. It is such an aggressive disease that causes so much pain and suffering, which we all felt in the last years of his life."
