THIS shocking video shows the moment a Worcester cyclist says he was almost hit by a car cutting him up.

Toby Wilson, of Barbourne, filmed the close shave at the St John’s roundabout in Worcester with a video camera attached to his bike.

The 28-year-old, who commutes on two wheels to near Great Malvern every day, installed the equipment for his own safety and has captured footage of “extreme driving” across Worcestershire.

He said: “The incident was quite scary and it was very close – I had to take a lot of evasive action to avoid being hit.

“To be honest I get an adrenaline rush in that place every day and I am extremely careful now.

“I got the camera for the purpose of protecting myself.

“I have no axe to grind and don’t feel I am on a mission. I am not a militant cyclist – I drive myself – but if I do witness extreme driving I am going to report it.”

The near-accident in 2013 was reported to West Mercia Police but Mr Wilson decided to drop the matter because he didn’t have time to attend court.

A further incident this year showing a BMW blasting its horn while overtaking on the A449 Malvern Road near Lower Wick has also been captured by the cyclist’s camera.

“Ninety to 95 per cent of motorists are very good and keep the appropriate space”, added Mr Wilson.

“But there are a minority of drivers who are dangerous.”
