WORCESTER City are waiting on the fitness of several players ahead of tonight’s Conference North match against Guiseley at Aggborough (7.45).

Manager Carl Heeley has described his squad as the “walking wounded” after two-goal Tristian Dunkley and full-backs Kyle Haynes and Shabir Khan all picked up knocks in Saturday’s 3-3 draw at Chorley.

Striker Daniel Nti, who missed the Lancashire trip, is struggling with a knee injury, while midfielder Connor Gater (groin), keeper Nathan Vaughan (foot) and striker Michael Taylor (hamstring) are still sidelined.

With left-back Tyler Weir still a few weeks from returning following his broken foot, the Blue and Whites boss is fast running out of fit personnel.

He explained: “Dan played the other evening against Solihull and his knee stiffened up so he wasn’t available on Saturday.

“Tristian’s groin was tight, although he said it was just fatigue, and it looks like Kyle Haynes has strained his thigh and Shab’s twisted his knee so that doesn’t help the situation.

“Up until the last six weeks the injuries have been pretty kind to us but it is the walking wounded at the moment.

“We’ve certainly got a few casualties but hopefully one or two won’t be far away from a return.

“It’s unfortunate that we lose players through injury but we move on and try to deal with what we’ve got available.

“Although we’re short on numbers and got lots of injuries we’ve also got some very good players still available to us.”

City bounced back from last Tuesday’s disappointing 4-1 defeat at the hands of Solihull Moors with a hard-fought point at Chorley on Saturday. They remain in the play-off mix but the gap between themselves and the top five is growing increasingly wider and currently stands at nine points.

Guiseley occupy fifth spot in the division following a 1-0 victory at Solihull at the weekend and also have games in hand on the teams above them.

Worcester were beaten 1-0 at Nethermoor Park in August and have only beaten the Lions twice in their last nine meetings.
