A MAN had to be airlifted to hospital with a serious head injury when mini digger overturned in Hornyold Road, Malvern.

Air ambulances from both Strensham and Cosford were called to the building site at about 3.50pm yesterday after the man was trapped upside-down in the digger.

A spokesman from West Midlands Ambulance Service said the man, who is in his 20s, was “extremely agitated” following the accident.

“He was sedated at the scene, anaesthetised and his airway maintained, and immobilised on a scoop stretcher before being flown to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham for a CT scan and further treatment,” he said.

His condition is unknown.

No one else is believed to have been hurt.

Police closed the road while paramedics dealt with the incident.
