WORCESTER City manager Carl Heeley says he is happy with his lot for the end of season run-in despite opting not to replace striker Nick Wright.

Wright has joined Conference North rivals Gloucester City on non-contract terms after Worcester agreed to waive a seven-day approach ahead of yesterday’s transfer deadline.

It leaves the Blue and Whites with a squad of 24 but four are currently unavailable through injury and suspension, while another four are academy players.

But Heeley reckons there is enough ability in the ranks for the remaining seven league games, starting at Boston United tomorrow (3pm), and next month’s Worcestershire FA Senior Cup final.

He said: “We weren’t going to sign players for the sake of it, that’s easy to do. There’s enough in the squad.

“Tyler Weir is coming back in and Shabir Khan will be back soon so we will go with what we have got.”

Wright, who signed for City at the start of the season, scored five times in 34 appearances for Heeley’s side.
