PATIENTS in Worcestershire are being reminded A&E is not their only option to over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend.

Many GP surgeries will be closed for the entirety of the four-day weekend – although some may be opening specially on one or more days – meaning patients may find it difficult to get medical help and may resort to going to hospital.

But there are a number of other options including the Minor Injury Units in Kidderminster – which is open 24 hours a day – Malvern, Evesham, Bromsgrove and Tenbury.

Health experts have also said stocking up on prescription medication is advisable.

Urgent care lead for the three Clinical Commissioning Groups in Worcestershire Sandy Hogg said: “It’s important to plan ahead and make sure you’re fully prepared for the Easter period.

"There are a number of different things people can do to be ready, for example, making sure you collect your repeat prescription in good time will mean you're well equipped for the Easter break.”

Patients can also call NHS 111 free 24 hours a day, where advisers can give clinical advice and make urgent appointments where necessary.
