GLASGOW Warriors intend to wreck Bath's run towards the Heineken European Cup quarter-finals and give themselves a springboard towards qualification for next season's competition when the teams meet at Firhill tonight.

The English side have ground out victories in their first three games but, while the Warriors have won plaudits for their performances, three defeats have almost certainly ruled them out.

Consequently, as Edinburgh Gunners try to revive Scottish interest in this season's competition at Toulouse, their intercity rivals know the best they can do is help the Celtic League's credibility by easing Irish side Leinster's path to the quarter-finals.

"We are in a position to put pressure on Bath and it is good to see Celtic teams performing well in this competition so the results achieved by Ulster, Llanelli and Leinster last week were excellent, but really our whole outlook is about Glasgow, " said Hugh Campbell, their head coach.

"We are looking at getting into good shape for the rest of our Celtic League campaign and the Borders game at the turn of the yearwill be massive for us.

"We've played well recently against Connacht and Edinburgh and while we're not taking too much from having lost in Bath it was another good performance there last week. The players are really excited about the way we're playing so we want to keep that momentum going and that's why we've only made one change."

That single switch is in the front five which did particularly well at The Rec in coping with a Bath unit which has gained a reputation as being just about the most feared in the country. Campbell remains under no illusions about that, but he does not feel he is weakening his side by bringing in Dan Turner, the 25-year-old Kiwi, who became a regular during last season, his first with the club.

Renewed competition for places with the arrival of Craig Hamilton, the 6ft 8ins Scotland lock, from Newcastle and Tim Barker, who joined from Ulster in the summer, has largely seen Turnermiss out and this will be his first European start of the season having made just two Celtic League appearances.

"Dan was our main lineout winner last season and is a very important part of our team so we need to get him involved, " said Campbell.

On the face of it, Turner might see his opportunity as having been enhanced by Bath's decision to rest Steve Borthwick, their club captain and England second row, but he is replaced by the British & Irish Lion, Danny Grewcock.

"The fact that they can leave out Borthwick for Grewcock replacing one awesome player for another shows the quality they have, "Turner said.

"I thought our forwards went really well down there, though, and hopefully we can repeat that this weekend because they didn't really have anything on us."

"I think this is one of the fittest teams I've ever played for and that gives you a lot of confidence."

While last week's match was a six-try spectacular there is an expectation that Bath will revert to type and try to grind out a result, but the message from Glasgow is that after scoring six tries of their own on their first appearance at their new home, they are determined to continue that form.

"I'm sure they will try to stick it up their jumpers but we're just as determined to put on a show, "Turner added.
