RUNNERS raised more than £2,000 for a hospice with a six-mile run around a scenic Worcestershire village.

More than 160 runners strapped on their trainers to take part in the annual St Richard’s Hospice Scenic Six run in Peopleton near Pershore on Sunday, March 29.

Participants were out in force despite the rain, with Daniel Harris the first man to cross the finish line and Megan Judge the first woman.

Community fundraiser Lizzie Brazier said: "We are very grateful to all those who turned out despite the weather and supported the event to raise money for St Richard's Hospice.

“The volunteers also deserve a big cheer for all their help making the day such a success."

The annual event featured a six-mile multi-terrain run as well as a two-mile fun run – or walk – around the village.

St Richard’s Hospice provides free specialist palliative care for more than 2,500 patients living with life-threatening illnesses and their families every year.
