FIVE hundred Fairtrade chocolate Easter eggs were given away at the church stand at this year’s CountryTastic Show.

Along with the chocolate eggs, over 600 plastic eggs were decorated, 400 chicks made and 100 cards decorated as well as 50 live chicks, less than a day old, who were held and stroked.

The activities helped families learn about the real meaning of Easter.

Emma Pettifer, children’s officer for the Diocese of Worcester, helped to organise the stand.

She said: “Easter is the most important time in the Christian calendar and CountryTastic is a good opportunity to have fun while remembering the bible stories behind our more modern traditions.

"It was brilliant to see so many children enjoying the activities – there were often queues to stroke the baby chicks, which were a great symbol of new life.”
