PERSHORE Town Council has agreed to put an extra £5,000 towards the preparation of a business case for a relief road to be built to the north of the town.

The council has already put £20,000 into the pot towards the cost of £135,000 for the initial stage.

This latest grant increases the donation to £25,000 and the council hope it shows its commitment to the project.

Cllr Charles Tucker, who has also been working with the Northern Link steering group, said he was happy with the movement on what he regards as a vital project.

"I am really pleased to see that what this represents is actual work being done and work being done to create and generate the information that's needed to get to the point the planning application can be submitted," he said.

"It's really good news we are moving forward to do this."

Cllr Val Wood added: "It's an essential part of the development going on at Station Road. It's something we have waited 20 years for and it's finally got kicked into touch. I am glad everyone is one board and as Charles said, let's get it done."
