TRUCKS of all shapes and sizes will be motoring into the Vale for the first ever Evesham Truck Show later this month.

There will be nearly 200 trucks at the event, which is taking place on Saturday and Sunday, April 25 and 26 at Ashdown Farm in Badsey near Evesham, as well as fun activities for all the family.

It's all been organised in aid of local youngster Olivia Hancock, who needs a life changing operation to allow her to walk unaided for the first time.

The campaign Olivia's Dream is aiming to raise £50,000 for the eight-year-old, who has cerebral palsy spastic diplegia, to pay for an essential aftercare package following the operation - which is funded by the NHS.

The Truck Show was set up by Lisa Beasley, who has a daughter in Olivia's class.

She is hoping the event will be a great success and has already raised more than £2,000 for the appeal.

"We have 180 trucks coming and 40 trade stands, which aren't just trade, they are also for children, we have face painting, toys on sale and lots of fun stuff," she said. "There will also be Elsa, Fireman Same and Peppa Pig here.

"We have a lot going on for Olivia. We will be carrying on with the auction, which we have been running online on Facebook, and selling green ribbons to all the lorry drivers, as that's the Cerebral Palsy colour.

"We have already raised £2,143 so far.

"I would love to raise another £2,000 but it depends how the event goes.

"We are hoping to make it an annual event each year raising money for a different cause but we wanted the first year to be for a really local cause."

There will also be a number of awards given out at the event in memory of former transport bosses.

"We have just picked up the trophy for the Ian Dyer memorial award," she added. "It's about three and a half foot tall.

"There will also be a Ronnie Sinclair plate awarded. We felt it was a nice commemoration to the former owners of the transport companies that are no longer with us."

The show will be opened at 9am on Saturday by Evesham Mayor councillor Charlie Homer and he will be back later on to judge the best truck.

There will also be dancing and activities going on into the evening on Saturday until 11pm and camping on site.

The event will carry on into Sunday when it will go on between 10am until 4pm.

Tickets, which can be bought on the door, cost £5 for over 12s and children go free.
