CD REVIEW: Gallows- Desolation Sounds
I wasn’t sure what to expect from Gallows album. The front features a woman looking quite ghost-like, dressed all in a long black flowing cape.
The tracks contain such cheery sounding names as Death Valley Blue, Cease to Exist, Swan Song and Leviathan Rot.
But despite the rather gloomy titles, this is a cracking rock album. At times fierce, angry and raw and at others more mellow and quieter, but all the songs are tinged with an anger, sorrow and energy that carries the album along at a great pace.
Despite the names, Mystic Death and Desolation Sounds (also the album’s title), are two of the many highlights.
Chains contains the line ‘Save Rock and Roll’ and my goodness, if this album is anything to go by, these guys are the ones to do it.
