A Watford businesswoman has been shortlisted for The Real Business First Women Awards.

The awards, now in their eleventh year, celebrate the achievements of inspirational women from a variety of businesses and professional sectors.

Watford-based Rona Kotecha, director of the Mara Foundation and Mara Women, has made it through to the final round of judging.

Both social enterprises are run by the Mara Group, a conglomerate with operations in 16 countries, and Ms Kotecha has been shortlisted in the First Women of Public Service category.

She is up against Safia Minney of People Tree, Helen Milner of the Tinder Foundation, Laura Dietz of the Royal Navy, Dame Asha Khemka of the West Nottinghamshire College Group, and Catherine Rushforth of Catherine Rushforth & Associates.

Nominations were open to the public, with winners chosen by a 20-strong judging panel.

Broadcaster Clare Balding will host the awards ceremony on Thursday, June 11, 2015, at the London Marriott Hotel, Grosvenor Square.
