NIFTY knitters managed to net a children's hospice more than £2,000 by creating cute characters to cover Creme Eggs.

Organiser Anita Haycock and her dedicated team of 12 knitters were delighted to raise £2,275 which beat last year's total by just over £250.

They had been tirelessly knitting and stitching the characters which were sold over Easter to raise money for Acorns Children's Hospice in Bath Road, Worcester.

Rachael Anstey, Acorns community fundraising officer, said: “The knitters have raised a fantastic amount and I’m delighted they’ve beaten last year’s total.

"The commitment and dedication of all of them is truly inspiring and the funds raised will help us greatly in meeting our ongoing running costs.”
