A FUNDRAISING song has been released on the first anniversary of an Evesham man's death.

Motorcycle racer Simon Andrews died a year ago today (May 19), two days after crashing and suffering fatal injuries during the North West 200's Superstock race in Ireland.

Since then, family, fans and friends have worked hard to raise money in memory of the 31-year-old, and today sees the release of a single raising money for the Simon Andrews Fund.

The single, by Kodiak Jack, is called My Condition and it is hoped it will continue to raise money for the fund, which helps injured riders with their rehabilitation — a cause that was close to Mr Andrew's heart.

Ean Proctor, a photographer from the Isle of Man who organised the charity single, said: "As it approached the first anniversary of Simon's untimely departure, I wanted to produce a video slideshow of photographs I had taken of Simon over the years and the Tribute Lap from 2014 to honour his memory.

"There was one piece of poignant music that fitted with the whole project perfectly, 'My Condition' by one of my favourite bands.

"I uploaded the slideshow video to my Facebook page and within 24 hours it had more than four thousand views.

"The popularity of the video brought about the idea of releasing the song as a charity single, which the band were happy to do."

Claire Jupp, Mr Andrew's sister, said she hopes the fundraising single will be a "huge success".

"We are very grateful for all the support and generosity we have received," she said.

"We wish to thank Ean Proctor and the band for being so supportive and we wish Kodiak Jack and the single huge success.

"On a personal note, a big thank you to everyone who has helped us over these last 12 months — without you a difficult year would have been made even harder. Thank you all.”

The single is available to download from iTunes, Amazon and other sites.
