IT was party time at Willow Bank House Residential Home, in Throckmorton, as popular resident Doris Halliday celebrated her 100th birthday on May 19.

Mrs Halliday was born Doris Monks in Eden Bridge, Kent, and came from a large family with five brothers and three sisters. She worked as a tailor for her father who owned his own shop in Kent.

She married Douglas Halliday from Scotland and they had one son called Mike.

Mrs Halliday is a well-respected long term resident of Pershore, who came to live at Willow Bank House in October 2014. She says her secret to a long and happy life was to follow her father's advice to work hard. She was overwhelmed with the abundance of cards, flowers and best wishes she received on her birthday, especially being remembered from afar as Canada and Australia.
