A WORCESTERSHIRE man went without gifts to celebrate his 80th birthday, choosing to do his bit for a worthy charity instead.
Ken Rose, from Wickhamford, held his 80th birthday party, at the Wickhamford Sports Club surrounded by his family and friends earlier this month.
Mr Rose asked that in place of presents, donations could be made to the Simon Andrews Fund to aid the rehabilitation of injured racers.
A total of £365 was raised which Mr Rose, a keen biker, and his wife Carol have since donated.
Motorcyclist Simon Andrews died in May last year, two days after crashing and suffering fatal injuries during the North West 200's Superstock race in Ireland.
