THE inquests into the deaths of two men found in a swimming pool opened today (Wednesday).

Martin Winfield, aged 59, and Alan Green, aged 75, were found dead in the swimming pool of their home in Wichenford on July 3 by Mr Winfield's three children.

In the case of both men the Worcestershire Coroners Service says the precise medical cause of death has not yet been ascertained and will be confirmed at the inquest.

Martin Winfield's funeral will take place at Worcester Crematorium on Friday, July 24 at 1pm and his children want friends and family to make donations to a drowning prevention charity instead of bringing flowers.

Martin Winfield and Alan Green were found in the swimming pool of their home after Mr Winfield had failed to turn up for work at Reddiplex in Droitwich. Police are not treating the matter as suspicious at this time.

The two men had been due to enter a civil partnership on August 1, after having been together for three years.

Mr Winfield was well known locally as a music lover, DJ and lifelong Spurs fan, and has three children, Steve, Claire and Paul.

Steve Winfield said in his tribute: "He was my best mate. We never ever fell out. He always had a smile on his face and he always treated people with a lot of respect.

“He was a fantastic person. I have never met anyone who did not like him."

Linda George said of Mr Green: "I'm still struggling with this news a week later. Only two weeks earlier Alan was giving me a hug and a kiss and buzzing round his Open Garden, dodging the showers, at his usual mile a minute speed. We'd known Alan over 20 years."
