AN Evesham cinema that is no stranger to supporting good causes is turning its attention to helping those born with a complex condition.

Since it opened in 2012, the Regal Cinema has supported more than 200 local schools, charities and groups with the help of the local community.

Now the cinema's Charity Association is raising money for the Prader-Willi Syndrome Association (PWSA), a charity supporting people born with the syndrome which causes challenging learning and emotional behaviours and unusual medical issues.

To help raise funds, Ian Wiper, owner of the Regal Cinema, has entered the Prudential Ride London-Surrey 100 mile cycle event on Sunday, as part of a team of 20 people supporting the charity.

He said: “In 2003 and 2004 I was climbing in the Himalayas where I befriended a couple whose second son was diagnosed shortly after birth with Prader-Willi Syndrome. Since then I have been a keen supporter of the PWSA and I know from personal experience that donations made to the charity have a real impact on children with PSW, as well as their families.”

The Regal is also offering members of the community the opportunity to take part in a raffle in support of the charity, which tickets costing £1 each from the Regal's box office.

The raffle will be drawn on August 31.
