DRUGS used to put animals down which are potentially lethal if used by humans were stolen from a veterinary practice in Worcester last night.

Thieves broke into Ambleside Vets at the junction of Tolladine Road and Ambleside Drive between 7.30pm last night and 8am this morning.

They stole a 300ml bottle of Euthatal, which is used to euthanize animals, and 10ml of pain relief Comfortan, as well as a number of charity boxes.

Police have warned the drugs are potentially lethal if used by humans and urged anyone who finds them to hand them in as soon as possible.

Detective Inspector Stuart Murphy said: "It is of paramount importance that these drugs are in police possession as quickly as possible.

“This drug is described as a blue liquid and will kill you if taken.

“I would urge anybody who has information of this burglary or knows the whereabouts of these drugs to contact us as a matter of urgency.

“It may be that those responsible do not know what they have stolen or the risk it poses.

“This would appear to be an opportunist crime. The owners of the veterinary practice have significantly stepped up security at their premises."

Anyone with any information can call police on 101 quoting incident 0109-s-120815.
