TICKETS are now on sale for a “rainbow ball” in Worcester in memory of a brave baby boy born with half a heart.

Theo’s Rainbow Ball will take place at the Pitch View Suite at Sixways Stadium, Worcester, on Saturday, September 26 from 7pm until late.

The ball, organised by Theo’s Friends, is in memory and honour of baby Theo Rachel and will raise money for three charities who help sick youngsters and their families through the toughest of times.

Theo of Warndon Villages, Worcester, died when medics could not restart his heart after he was born with a condition called hypoplastic left heart syndrome which prevents the left side of the heart developing properly.

He battled through a nine hour operation just two days after he was born. Theo died on February 5, 2013 but has continued to inspire his parents, David and Beverley Rachel and many others to help three charities which throw a lifeline to parents and children during tough times.

Theo's Friends have already been recognised together as one of the "Hundred Heroes" of Birmingham Children's Hospital but the work continues and so far they have raised around £55,000 in his memory.

Around 90 per cent of the money raised from the ball will be split between Ronald McDonald House Charities which provides a home from home for families with children in hospital and Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity, which has a mission to make a difference by providing additional facilities, equipment and research and by creating a caring environment for all who use the hospital.

The remaining 10 per cent of the funds will go to Little Hearts Matter which raises awareness of those affected when a child has only half a heart due to conditions such as Complex Pulmonary Atresia, Tricuspid Atresia, Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome or Double Inlet or Outlet Ventricle (Univentricular Heart).

Auction prizes at the ball will include a signed West Bromwich Albion football, a signed Wolves shirt, a golf day at Gaudet Luce near Droitwich and a signed photograph from the Thomas Hearns Vs Sugar Ray Leonard fight.

There will be a buffet and the Magoos will be performing covers on the night.

The dress code is black tie for the men and brightly coloured dresses for the women.

Tickets are £30 and available from Dave Rachel, Theo’s dad, by calling 07860 630957.
