A MULTI-million pound redevelopment of Pershore College is nearing completion.

The glass-fronted Collections House, part of a £5.8 million project, will house a science and technology centre, teaching rooms and project spaces as well as a new reception and viewing gallery.

It will also provide the ideal environmentally-controlled home for exotic plants and will be heated by existing gas-fired boilers, meaning no air conditioning will be needed.

Commercial manager at the college John Farmer said the building would be a “unique asset”.

“It will provide our students with an innovative, technologically-enhanced environment unrivalled in the further education sector and they will be involved in every aspect of managing it, which will give them invaluable experience,” he said.

“Over the summer we have been busy sourcing plants from around the country and Europe for the Collections House, which has been a challenge - especially as it is eight metres high.

“When complete it is going to be truly spectacular, something for everyone in Pershore to be proud of.”
