ADVENTURER Kevin Brady thrilled onlookers today as he passed through Worcester on his epic swim of the river Severn from source to sea.

It is the first attempt to swim the entire length of the country's longest river, and Mr Brady's effort, which aims to raise money for charity, has captured the imagination of people who have lined the riverbank to cheer him on.

A knee problem that plagued Mr Brady in his teenage years threatened to cut his adventuring and fundraising career short before it began.

Despite surgery and years of rehabilitation, doctors advised against further challenges, until he found a way around the pain.

In September 2013 and after just two day’s practice, Mr Brady set about the mammoth task of paddling the Mississippi river from source to sea in an ex-rental canoe.

The journey – 2,350 solo miles – was completed during the coldest winter on record, and raised thousands of pounds for his local children’s hospital.

The river Severn swim is his latest effort to raise money for good causes.
