TALENT competition the W Factor is back again for another year as Wychavon District Council searches for the area’s most skilled young people.

Contest auditions are already taking place in schools across the district as children aged 11 to 18 fight for a place in the finals.

Open auditions will take place on Tuesday, January 19, at Droitwich Spa High School, Wednesday, January 20, at the De Montfort School in Evesham, and Thursday, January 21, at the Civic Centre in Pershore.

The W Factor is open to performers and artists who live in Wychavon and the categories include short film, visual arts and crafts, dance, drama, music and singing.

Jenny Davis, Wychavon District Council’s arts development officer, said: “It’s a privilege to bring back The W Factor again to Wychavon.

“Over the years the competition has been brilliant for developing young artists, but it’s also been great at helping those taking part to develop their confidence and build a strong personality, which will hopefully help them as they pursue their careers.

“The competition has launched the careers of Abbie Inez, for example, who is now singing nationally and internationally. Who knows what talent we will find this time?”

Finalists will perform at the Number 8 Arts Centre in a professional show with industry standard production facilities. The winners will get training from professional artists to help them develop and they will be able to perform at local events throughout the summer of 2016.
