A MALVERN photographer has impressed judges with her images of natures — and now she needs your votes.

Sue Dudley from the Barnards Green area of the town wowed judges of the Scottish Seabird Centre’s Nature Photography Awards and as a result has had six images in the winning shortlist, which received more than 500 entries.

Ms Dudley has two images in the World Flora category including Solitary Splendour, which depicts a single bluebell isolated in a sea of wild garlic, as well as Garlic Foam which features wild garlic in a spring woodland.

Two other images have been shortlisted in the Creative Visions of Nature category, and her final images are in the new category Nature’s Foragers.

These show a red kite in mid Wales dropping his meal before catching it again, and a labyrinth spider, spotted in Pembrokeshire, enjoying a fly for lunch.

Talking about her image, Garlic Foam, she said: "This site on the flanks of the Malvern Hills is always wonderful for wild garlic, and the ground is a sea of foamy white blossoms in springtime. The scent is overwhelming. I knew exactly the composition I wanted, but even with the acres of flowers available, it still took me an hour to find the perfect blossom standing tall amongst its colleagues.”

Richard Bath, editor of Scottish Field and judge for the awards, said: “With more than 500 entries this year's judging process was certainly challenging. The standard of photography and creativity was quite outstanding, and it was tough selecting just 10 in each category. A huge well done to Sue and I look forward to seeing if the voting public select the same winners as the judging panel."

In each category there will be a winner selected by the judges and a winner selected by the voting public.

Visitors to the Seabird Centre in North Berwick can vote and it is also possible to vote online at www.seabird.org.

The closing date for votes is Sunday, February 21. To vote visit www.seabird.org.
